Your role
We are currently expanding our Operations Team and looking for a German-speaking (Junior) Operations & Finance associate to join our dedicated and pan-European team. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining scalable financial operations at Nostos and support with other operational processes. This is a unique opportunity in an impactful, fast-growing start-up that comes with a lot of flexibility and ownership in terms of processes.

Main activities and responsibilities:

  • Accounting: own day-to-day financial tasks, including maintaining accounting records in collaboration with external tax advisor, payment and business expense processing

  • Payroll: Collaborate with the external payroll service provider to produce the monthly payroll report. Understand basic payroll requirements such as social security, employment and employer mandatory deductions, payroll related regulatory filing requirements.

  • Financial reporting: support preparation of the month-end reporting package, gradually transitioning to full ownership.

  • KPI reporting: You’ll be our chief data collector to stay on top of all activities across the company

  • Critically question, analyze and improve existing processes and have a significant impact on making Nostos scalable and efficient

  • Lead projects independently end-to-end, primarily in Business Development and Operations

  • Some general administrative tasks

Job requirements

You’re highly motivated, you love the mix of finance and operations and you want to make an impact in a highly dynamic environment. Additionally, you have a good understanding of German accounting principles. 

Essential

  • You have at least 1 year of experience in a high-performance environment (e.g. high growth startup or tech company, strategy consulting, finance)

  • You are hungry, humble, and never stop learning

  • You combine an analytical mindset with a hands-on attitude

  • A self-starter mindset mixed with a deep enjoyment of collaboration

  • You are an excellent communicator and not afraid of speaking with other people

  • You understand German accounting principles 

  • You speak English and German on a fluent level
